Various projects I've been part of...
Imagine Aisha
The Ministry of women’s affairs in Nigeria did a media campaign for women’s rights in 2020. I worked with Nadine Ibrahim, Director at Naila Media who was hired to create a series of videos for them. I was then hired by Nadine and this project (Imagine Aisha) is one of the videos that was produced .
Concept:
We follow the story of a 13 year old girl from Northern Nigeria. The moment she gets her very first monthly visitor, she basically looses her right to continue her education in favor of marriage. This is a sad reality that the short video explores. A ''what if the girl child was allowed to finish her education and not given off for marriage''.
Execution:
Project was executed in this order;
- Character Designs
- Concept Art/Animation Test
- Storyboards/Animatics
- Animation
- Music and Sound effects
- Composition and Final Edit
Softwares Used are Photoshop, Storyboard Pro and Toonboom Harmony.
Talents involved in the project and their contribution are:
Njoku Uzochukwu (Myself) - Concept Art, Background Art, Character Design. Storyboard/Animatics, Animation
Olamide Akintokunbo - Cleanup and Colours/Textures
Miriam Shongotola kwairanga - Editing and Compositing
Kennedy Emuobonuvie - Sound effects and Music Score
Results:
The project's final look aimed for something simple but esthetic at the same time. And so we have a loosed brush like effect for both backgrounds and line art have a subtle morph effect. A rough/sketchy but coherent appearance.
*looking at it now, there are some shots and transition I would do differently*. hehe
Anyway, enjoy.... #art #media #animation #2danimation #storyboard #girlchild #storytelling #toonboomharmony #Sketchy #textures

Commercial for indomie ghana
Poke Nigeria is a story telling consulting firm. They hired me as a consultant for a commercial requested by Indomie Ghana. I advised on how the project could go and lent my skills to produce a 40 secs of animation involving 10 different characters in synch to music.
Concept:
Ad intends to communicate to kids about the possibility of being anyone if they want to. To achieve this concept, Poke wanted to create a sequence where two kids would imprint on a paper and then these fingerprints would come alive reshape and morph into different characters for the children to see. Rigging
I worked as a Character Animation alongside a team of four other animators in Ajebotoon animation studios ran by Eguvwe Mayomi (EMY). This production went on from 2018 to 2021. The team produced 22 episodes with an average of 10 mins for one episode.
All team mates were managed remotely with Tools like "Basecamp" and "Frame IO" with the program creator Mr Adamu Waziri serving as both Director/producer closely assisted by Emy, the Creative Director of Ajebotoons. All task were assigned, tracked, and uploaded for review and feedbacks were given with these tools. Assets and backgrounds were made available. Including audio (voice over) and Animatics that helped us plan our task (scenes) as we animate.
